The Canadian League of Composers (CLC), in partnership with Sporobole, is thrilled to announce the three artists in the 2022-23 PIVOT program:

Sara Constant (ON)
Sam Meadahl (BC)
Each artist will be matched with a mentor who will provide creative and professional guidance throughout a six-month period, during which artists will develop a new work of sound art. This process will culminate in a two-week residency at Sporobole’s facilities in Sherbrooke, Quebec. There, the artists will further develop their creations in preparation for a final showcase on May 24, 2023.
PIVOT provides an unparalleled opportunity for these three artists to work directly with Sporobole, one of Canada’s most innovative artist-run spaces. Several professional development opportunities will also help participants progress as artists and professionals. The program will take place from Fall 2022 to Spring 2023.
A national jury consisting of Eliot Britton (MB/ON), Jessica Thompson (ON), Nathalie Bachand (QC), and William Kuo (BC), reviewed the nearly 50 applications to PIVOT 2022-23. The proposals represented a diverse cross-section of artistic practice, aesthetics, gender, culture, career experience, and geography. August Murphy-King (Canadian League of Composers) acted as chair for the meeting.
